About us
-
We are a cello and piano duo based in Birmingham. Our common interest in energetic ensemble playing in addition to spontaneous repertoire learning makes us an enjoyable pair of performers for all and any events.
Together we have been working on performing the Brahms cello sonatas in addition to arrangements of his violin sonatas, including the FAE sonata. In the last 2 years we have had opportunities to perform our work in private events, weddings and garden concerts around the midlands, to which we have received overwhelming praise.
Now in our final years of study, we are looking to get ourselves out there for more formal events.

At the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Michael Rose is studying with Mikhail Kazakevich, pursuing his undergraduate degree in Piano Performance. Michael also takes interest in the art song repertoire, recently a finalist in the RBC Stuart Cameron Smith French Song Prize and prior to this, a finalist in the 2020 Delia Hall accompanist prize and the 2019 Edward Brooks Lieder Prize. He benefited greatly from the 2020 Home Sweet Home Vox Box project exploring themes of family and belonging. This was lead by Iain Burnside who, in several coaching sessions imparted many valuable insights.
He looks forward to focusing further on repetiteur studies at Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
